My first day on this site. Considering purchasing a 52 incher and I'm concerned about concealed damage from Mt to NJ. A local retailer advised against it because subtle damage can occur that shows up months later. How are the large LCDs packed and how are they shipped. I've seen large packages of hard goods shipped UPS ground and sometimes there are punctures in the cardboard carton.
Hi Jeff!
Thanks for the question!
We ship large tv's that size out freight, and shipping damage is very unlikely, we generally see around 1-2% damage rate. If it is damaged when you receive it, please let us know within 48 hours, and we can set up a return/exchange, and get the TV picked up from you. The TV's themselves are packed very well by the manufacturers. One thing that you have to realize is that no matter where you purchase a tv, it's been shipped long distances to get to you, or the retail store you are buying from.
If you have any other questions, please let us know!
Hi Jeff,
Kevin is right. If the TV were to fail or show damage to the unit during shipment from Asia, it would have shown it by the time it gets to Vann's or any other retailers for that matter. Nowadays, these units are so well packed with state of the art styrofoams. I have not seen any of the electronics I have bought come apart due to lack of packing. Only Ebay does that when people under pack valuable items. Hope this helps.

Jeff....
In case you have not made your decision yet, let me chronicle my recent purchases. I bought a 67" DLP TV and a Blu ray dvd player. The TV was shipped FedEx freight to my address in Southern Arizona. Real quick ordered on the 11th received on the 13th. The unit was fine, well packed by MFG. handled carefully by truck driver. After install all was OK with a fine picture both with component and HDMI cables.
